Why No More Winging It exists
I’m Nick Walsh, and I built No More Winging It because I needed it.
I earn well. I’ve spent my career around money — but on the building side of it, not the advice side. For about twenty years I’ve been a technology leader at Goldman Sachs, designing and running real-time systems at the heart of a major financial institution, and before that I did similar work at PwC and BDO.
And I was still winging it.
Old pension pots from jobs I’d left. ISAs I’d half-forgotten. A net worth figure I could only ever estimate. Spreadsheets that were out of date the day after I updated them. I’m good at earning; I was disorganised at managing — and when I looked for a tool to fix that, everything on the market was either a budgeting app that counted my coffees, or a polished funnel nudging me toward the same generic fund-industry products everyone else gets sold.
I wanted something different: a single, honest command centre. Net worth, pensions, cashflow, and the life decisions that actually move the numbers — in one place, kept current, and built for people whose finances are complicated because they’ve done well, not because they’re struggling.
I’m a technologist, not a financial adviser, and I build this product myself. That’s deliberate. No More Winging It is here to give you a clearer picture and sharper questions about your own money — it does not tell you what to buy, and nothing on this site is financial advice. The independence is the point: your data, your view, no one’s sales pitch.
I’m building it in the open, under my own name, because a tool that asks you to trust it with your financial life should be able to tell you exactly who’s behind it.

Nothing on No More Winging It constitutes financial advice. It’s a tool for organising and understanding your own finances; decisions and any regulated advice remain yours to seek.
How the company makes money
Subscriptions. That’s it. Free tier is genuinely free forever for users who want to enter figures manually. The Pro tier (£15/month or £150/year — two months free on annual) unlocks the AI document-upload extraction, the Personal Intelligence chat, and the daily personalised intelligence feed.
Explicitly not how we make money: affiliate kickbacks on pension providers, ISA platforms, mortgage brokers or insurance. Advertising of any kind. Selling or licensing user data. There’s no “compare deals” comparison engine because the moment we add one, our incentives stop being aligned with the reader’s.
Editorial principles
- Numbers come from sources. Tax bands cite gov.uk and are dated. Wealth distribution cites the ONS Wealth and Assets Survey via the Social Mobility Commission. Anything we can’t cite, we don’t publish.
- Privacy as a structural commitment. Calculators on this site run client-side; the numbers you type never leave your browser. In the product, we use row-level security, encryption, consent-gated admin access and audit logging — detailed in the Privacy Policy.
- No SEO bait. We’d rather rank for one thing because the page is genuinely the best on that topic than rank for a hundred things because we played the algorithm.
Corrections and feedback
If you spot a wrong number, an outdated tax band, or a misleading explanation, email nick@nomorewingingit.ai and it’ll be fixed. Corrections on calculator inputs are usually shipped within 24 hours; structural changes get the same next-business-day treatment.
